Christmas Quilt Along progress

I am participating in the Christmas Quilt Along but I am a little behind.  This is what I have done so far...

I think these are January, February and March blocks. This post is a good inspiration to complete more from April and May.

I caught up! So here is my quilt so far...

In my bookshelf...on my phone

This is what is listened to this week:

Love in a Nutshell by Janet Evanovich and Dorien Kelly.
I love the easy flow of J.E.'s books. Lorelei King does a great job reading Janet's books. Her voice is perfect. It is a funny story with a hint of mystery. I enjoyed it. There is a part 2 called The Husband list. I am waiting for it to be available to borrow at the library I borrow audiobooks from.

Spring Fever by Mary Kay Andrews.
I just finished this book last night. A fictional story about life and how mixed up it can get. It is also an easy listen. I like how the story lines of the character's lives were all tied together. It is read by Kathleen McInerney. At first I wasn't sure if her voice fit the story but as you listen you realize her voice is great for the book.

I just loaded The Best Of Me by Nicholas Sparks on today for my next book to listen to.

First week of May Finishes

It's been a great week of sunshine and more warm weather.  We had our school track and field meet this week so lots of fresh air after this 2 day event.
I was glad I still had energy on Wednesday to finish the charity quilt I had put on the long arm on Tuesday night.

I completed a customer's XL baby quilt on the long arm on Tuesday night. I started it on Saturday. I used Angel Wings pantograph with white Connecting Threads Essential Pro polyester line.

Completed on the long arm, a charity baby quilt for the Kindred Spirits Community Quilters.  Someone in the group pieced the top. I get to long arm quilt them.
I used Angel Wings pantograph with white Connecting Threads Essential Pro polyester line.( same as above)

C.R.A.F.T.S. Weekly goals

First week of May...

Note: Most of these quilts are pieced by others. I am the long arm quilter for these lovelies!

Completed this weekend: (goals below)
I just completed 2 Prayer and Squares quilts on the long arm and binding on Friday and Saturday. My mom made the tops.  I forgot to take a pic of the second prayer quilt completed and will have to get a picture later.  I do have a picture of the top.

Goals for this week are to:

1.  Complete a customer's xL baby quilt on the long arm.  She brought me the top and back on Thursday May 1.

2. Complete one or more charity quilts on the long arm. These are the tops that were done by the Kindred Spirits Community Quilters. I am the resident volunteer long armer only!

In my bookshelf...on my phone

Just some history...
I was an avid paper book reader until  just over a year and a half ago. In August 2012, I purchased a long arm quilt machine to quilt the quilts I had pieced for my family and friends.

Most of my spare time was spent learning how to use the machine and also piecing quilts as my new hobby. I realized 2 months into owning my new machine, I had spent no time reading. I missed it terribly! As a read a quilter's blog, I found out that she listened to audiobooks while quilting on her long arm. I thought I could do that! I never liked listening to stories. I had always like the feel of a book in my hand. But now I love that I get the best of both worlds. I can do something with my hands while listening to an audiobook. I then found out that I could borrow audiobooks from my local library on an app called Overdrive on my iPad.

No more late fees, still reading (listening) to books for free!  I love it!  I love quilting and reading equally so I am going to add what I am listening to on my blog and link to a linky party called Spread the Love 2.0 on Sundays hosted by April at The Steadfast Reader.

So here's what I listened to this week while quilting, driving to work and even at work on my breaks:

Mortal Stakes by Robert B. Parker - #3 in the series.  This series is ok, not my favourite.

A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks - I love all Nicholas Sparks books.  Even though this one frustrated me near the end but it turned out well.

Currently I am listening toThe Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. I love this one.  I have previously listened to the last 5 books in the series about a bounty hunter named Stephanie Plum written by Janet Evanovich.  I laughed many times reading this.  I love the style of writing in these books and The Heist.

April Scrappy Challenge Blocks

Here are my April Scrappy Challenge Blocks. It is a block of the month ( of sorts) to use up scraps in our stash hosted by Judy Laquidara at Patchwork Times.

Last of April finish!

I completed one more quilt on my long arm machine, Glory Be, for April, just on the 29th. It is my Mom's queen size quilt. She either did a block of the month or a class. The blocks are on point. It looks stunning! She said this will be her last queen size quilt. She is so thankful that I have a long arm which cuts down on the cost since I charge her nothing. I used Lush Leaves pantograph. So here are the pictures. I took them by a park along Lake Ontario. The midges (tiny black flying bugs) were there by the thousands! Hopefully you can't see them in the pictures.
