Hexie Progress

May 26th

I completed 2 more Hexie flowers and started the third. I added the leaves after seeing ones on Pinterest. I love the look of the leaves added to the flowers.

I think I am going to put these on white background. (Although you can see my placemat under the white) I think they look better on the white than the pale flesh Kona fabric seen in pic below.

My Weekly Goals

Last week in May 2014

I finished the 6 crow sock puppets for the school's performance of the Wizard of Oz on the weekend.

Completed one Scrappy Challenge block by Judy Lacquidara at Patchwork Times.

This is what I am working on...

1. Finishing the charity quilt that is on the Long arm.

2. Start 1 of 2 customer lap quilts on the long arm.

3. Continue to work on my Hexies. I have joined a group at Hexagon Alley to work on hexies 8 hours a month. I am late starting in this month but will be keeping track next month. This is what I have done so far.

4. On Friday I am hosting TGIFF Linky party! So please stop by for a visit!

In my bookshelf...on my phone

Last week in May

I listened to 2 complete books and am on a third book. Here is what I listened to...

The Inn at Rose Harbour by Debbie Macomber read by Lorelei King. This was my first Debbie Macomber book. I loved it. Again a story about life's ups and downs written in an easy read or listen manner. The characters were well developed. I liked the humour and the suspense.

Full House by Janet Evanovich also read by Lorelei King was another mystery with life events infused. A little too much about physical desires for my liking but still a good listen.

Fly Away by Kristen Hannah is what I am currently listening to. It is a little depressing since it is about the people who are left behind when someone they love dies young. Hoping it has a good ending.

Friday Finishes

Fourth Friday in May

My cold is getting better but I still have a bad cough. The cough doesn't affect my sewing like the cold did on the weekend. So this is what i got done.

1. I completed long arm quilting a large lap charity quilt for the a Kindred Spirits Community Quilters. I used Starburst pantograph and Blue Moon thread from Connecting Threads.

This is the back.

I also got one of the six crow puppets done for the Wizard of Oz play that will be done at school. I am happy with how it turned out. So 5 more to go...

My first attempt at EPP

I received a giveaway win at TGIFF from A Quilting Reader's Garden by AngieN.
Since I have a head cold that makes me tired and am just sitting around, I decided to try EPP (English paper piecing).  So this is what I did yesterday...

This is the first one...

I made 3 flowers and put them on a 12 1/2 inch piece of Kona pale flesh. I now ordered more Kona fabric to make a lap quilt, I think.

C.R.A.F.T.S.Weekly goals and giveaway

Third week in May

I have a giveaway happening at my Linky party here. If you like Downton Abbey Fabrics, stop in to link up or follow me for a chance to win.
I am working on the following this week:

On my long arm:
I hope to complete this charity quilt pieced by the Kindred Spirits Community Quilts. I am using Starburst Pantograph. I also hope to put one more on the frame later in the week.

While I am sick with a head cold:
I learned how to paper piece from a giveaway I won at TGIFF from A Quilting Reader's Garden by AngieN. So now I have a new flower growing in my garden of skills. I will be working on my second flower while I am resting from this silly cold and while watching The Bible on Netflix.

While I travel:
I have been working on a yellow Hawaiian block. I have completed the red and white Hawaiian block for my niece. We went to Toronto on Friday to take the car in for an oil change so I worked on the yellow block.

For school:
I was asked to make six crow sock puppets for a Wizard of Oz play at school. I am working on a sample but need socks to make the puppets. I am not eager to make these but need to get them done. I hope it will look like something like this or this.

In my bookshelf...on my phone

Third week in May

This past week I listened to the following audiobooks:
The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks. This was a good book. Again Nicholas Sparks captures a picture of life with all it's twists and turns.

Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks. I really do like any of NS's stories. They are easy to listen to. I love how true to life they can be. Not always the happily ever after endings but endings with hope.

Currently...

The Husband List by Janet Evanovich and Dorien Kelly. I thought it was the sequel to Love in A Nutshell but it is more like a prequel! It takes place way before the time period in the first novel with the Colhane family.
